Children's Ministries


    When I was a young Christian, I heard some one say, “The Bible says that God helps those who help themselves.” Well, I had read the Bible through, and I didn’t recall having read those words. Unfortunately, I was too young in myChristian walk and uncertain of my own knowledge of Scripture to refute the person who said that to me. Later I pulled out my Strong’s Concordance and looked it up, just to be sure. I didn’t find it.

    As the years went by, I occasionally heard other statements erroneously attributed to Scripture, such as, “Cleanliness is next to godliness,” and “Money is the root of all evil.” How sad that people will so often misquote Scripture and yet not know the simplest verses that actually are in the Bible. I would rather they propounded a verse like “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” than to continue to misrepresent Scripture by saying, “Those who are good go to heaven.”

    Fortunately, we have a tremendous ministry through which children can learn what’s really in God’s Word. That ministry is Junior Bible Quiz! JBQ keeps the Word burned into kids’ hearts since they must continually recall the information as they compete from meet to meet and season to season.
